What is Epfo ?
Friends, EPFO stands for Employees’ Provident Fund Organization is a government organization that provides a guaranteed provident fund for the future security of employees.It is a trust scheme operated by the Government of India, in which a certain amount is regularly deposited from the salary of the employees every month, which can be utilized in the work of the employees after leaving the job.
How does EPF work?
When you join a job, a certain amount is deposited into the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) from your salary. There are some formulas for depositing Epf money – let’s find out…
Epf = Employee Contribution (12% of Basic Salary) + Employer Contribution (3.67) + Pension Contribution (8.33%)
And like this your money gets deposited in EPF account which earns interest on that EPF money.
Example, if your Basic Salary is ₹15000 Income = 1800 (Employee Contribution) + 550.5 (Employer Contribution) + 1249.5 (Pension Contribution). If 1800 + (550.5 + 1249.5) = 3600 How much money is deposited in our EPF every month 1800+550.5 + 1249.5=3600.
If an employee works for 1 year, EPF deposits = 12*3600=43200 Every year the interest of EPF money also accrues.Epf money check can be seen in passbook section of epfo website.

Who can get EPF Number ( UAN )?
EPF Number is available to those who are working in a Govt registered company. EPF number is available only to those employees. Employees who are working in registered company and monthly salary is more than ₹15,000/month. If your company has more than 20 employees, it is mandatory for you to open an EPF account. This account will be opened by your company and each employee will be given a UAN (Universal Account Number), through which employees can check their EPF balance.
How To Know UAN Number
Employees who are working in a company but have not received or do not know or have forgotten their uan number can find it at home using their mobile. Let’s know step by step:-
Step-1 Go to the official website of EPFo, click on Services option and select For Employees option.
Step-2 Scroll down a bit, there you will find the Services section and click on the text that says Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP). A new page will open.
Step – 4 Here is an important link section, go there. Here you will find many important links but click on Know Your UAN.
Step – 5 Here fill some details like mobile number and captcha fill then click on request OTP.
How to know uan number
Step – 6 After the next page opens, select your name, date of birth and Aadhaar card in Select any one. After that enter Aadhaar number and fill Captcha and click show UAN and UAN Number will show.
How To Active UAN Number ?
Go to Epf Members portal to activate UAN Number. (Its link is below or search UAN Member portal in the browser and it will show on the First Page) .
Then you will see the Important Link section there and click on Active UAN.
After that..Here select UAN Number and skip Member ID and Aadhaar Number,Name,Date of Birth,Mobile No. Fill the captcha and tick on the left side agree button below and then click on Get Authorization Pin Button and you will receive an otp after filling it Successfully UAN will be Active.
How to Set Epf Password ?
Uan number and password are required to login to epf members portal but we don’t know the password. Let’s learn how to set password. Go to login section of Epf Members portal. Click on Forgot Password there.
Step – 1. Here are some details to fill. Like, enter UAN Number And Captcha and click on Submit button.
Step – 2 And a new page will open in the Enter Your Details section Name,Date of birth, After selecting Gender, click on Verify button.
After verifying, fill the Captcha and Aadhaar Number below, then tick Agree and click on Verify button.Then enter the aadhaar link mobile number and click on Get OTP.
Step – 4 After the OTP is verified, you can set the password as you wish. Enter New password and then confirm password again and click Submit.
Epf Kyc Process Online
Go to Member Portal of Epf and fill Uan number and Password and then fill Captcha whatever is written. Then click on login and enter the Adhaar link mobile number Six digit OTP code and fill the OTP and click on continue will be successful login.
Click on Menu section to do kyc of Epf here you will see some options but we have to click on Manage section and then click on Kyc.
Step – 1 Here are some options to see Bank, Pan and Passport. Let us select the Bank and Pan option. Then fill the Bank Details like, Bank Account Number.
Step – 2 After filling Bank Details fill Pan Card details. After filling the pan number here, tick Terms And Condition or agree. After that click on save button.
Step-3 Click on the save button, the otp will be sent from the mobile number of the half link and fill the OTP and click on the submit button.
Step – 4 After that you will see something like this. Wait for few days like 15 to 30 days and get verified. (It depends on the Employer or your Company’s HR).
Epf Balance Check Process Online
To check EPF Balance, open any browser on your phone or laptop and search for Epf Member Passbook, then click on the first section or click here.
To check EPF Balance fill Uan Number And Password then fill Captcha and click on Sign in button. Aadhaar link otp will come from mobile number fill it and click on verify button.
After successful sign in, the EPF Contribution Summary in the home section will show the available balance of any company you work in, only employee share and employer share. Pension contribution does not show here.
Click on the menu to see employee share, Employer share and Pension contribution and click on passbook section.
By clicking on the Select member id option, you can see all the member ids in any company you have worked in and you can select them individually.
Scroll down to find the Available Balance and Closing Balance Section, then look at the right side to see the Available Balance of Employees share, Employer share and Pension contribution.
We can check the balance of each member id like this.
Epf Money Advance Withdrawal Process ?
EPF has good benifites, you can withdraw money in advance from EPF in emergency time or if you need money. Let’s know step by step…..
Step – 1 First to login to epf member portal check below link and click on Signin with uan and password.
Step-2 Aadhar link mobile number will get otp and enter OTP and click on submit button and successful login will be done.
STEP-3 There are 3 lines on the LEFT SIDE which says menu, click there. Then click on online services and then click on claim (form-31,19,10C&100) option.
Step – 4 Enter the account number of the account that has the bank account link and then click on the Verify button. As soon as you click on the Verify button, you will see the warning massages, click on the yes button there. Then click on Proceed per online claim.
Step – 5 A new page will open. Select Pf Advance by clicking on I want to apply for.
Then click on select service, select the member id from which you want to withdraw money.Click on Purpose for which advance is required option and select any reason, if you need money quickly, select illnesses.
Enter the amount you want to withdraw and fill the address as per your Aadhaar card.If bank asks to upload passbook or cheque book then upload it.
After that click on Agree and click on Get Aadhaar Otp button. Aadhaar link mobile number will get otp fill that otp and click on validate otp and submit claim form and the form will be submitted.
